Anchor Big Band was formed and began rehearsing over 25 years ago. The band was immediately recognised for its high standard of musicianship and enthusiastic playing.

Since its formation the band has performed for numerous functions and has been applauded for its swinging style and lively performances.

The members of the band are mostly semi professional musicians who reside in and around the area of Leeds and Bradford, West Yorkshire. In addition to playing big band music, many of the members also have considerable experience of playing other types of music ranging from classical to modern jazz.

The band has a large repertoire of music from which programmes are compiled to suit both listening and dancing audiences. Tunes from famous bands such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ted Heath etc. are usually part of the band's programme.

Musicians in the band range in age from those in their early twenties to those who have been playing for longer than they care to remember. This gives the band a good balance of youthful exuberance combined with an in depth knowledge of music and playing. The result being a band that is pleasing to the ear and guaranteed to get you in a swinging mood
